Exploring Carrolton

This is a post from last summer, actually. I needed something up here to get started, so here it is!

A.W. Perry Museum
W. J. Thomas Splash Park
Blooms Candy Store

I always try to get the boys to a museum before the other “fun” stuff. This is basically the only museum in Carrolton. It’s a small house, not much to see. The website said it was open – wrong! But they let us in anyway, which was nice. Now my boys are very use to museums and know not to touch anything unless they are allowed and know to be fairly quiet and respectful. But the lady followed us around like they were going to destroy the place! It was a little unnerving! Anyway, it was pretty small and not much to see, so another visit not really in the cards for us.

Julia’s take: not much, but interesting 15 minutes if you are in the area and need something to do (and it’s open!).

P (7 years old, going on 15): Please don;t make us go back!

G (4): thumbs down

Free fun! This place was great! Splash ground with lots to play in, including a fantastic slide that is very cushioned at the bottom (think slip n slide). Small area of tables and bathrooms. We spent hours here and I had to pry them away. Water shoes are a good idea here, especially for bathrooms!

Julia: Will definitely take the kids again!

P: NOW?!!

G: I got my suit on, let’s go!

Blooms Candy Store:
1106 W Main St, Carrollton, TX 75006
(972) 416-5230
http://www.candycarrollton.com
hours 10am-9ish (their words!)

Great candy store on the Carrolton square (good luck on parking) worth going to. Small but fun with lots of old candy and crazy soda offerings like ranch dressing and bacon! But good classics like cream soda, too. People are nice and answer questions.

Julia: Love to see all the older candy and fun memorabilia. Will def go again!

P: Oh, ya, loved the variety and cool gum ball machine.

G: I want to go now! I liked the horsy ride in front!
